The purpose of Variation 6 is to rezone 12ha of Lot 2 DP 578788 for residential purposes; part of which will allow for medium density housing. The site is currently zoned as Rural within both the Wairau / Awatere Management Plan and the Proposed Marlborough Environment Plan.
Variation 7 - Urban Residential Four
The purpose of Variation 7 is to introduce a new planning framework for Medium Density Housing in a greenfields situation. This will be referred to as Urban Residential Four (UR4). The framework will include new provisions, policy, and accompanying zone rules.
Variations 6 and 7 are linked, but also include separate discrete elements.
Both variations were publicly notified on 17 April 2024 and submissions closed on 14 May 2024. Variation 6 received 8 submissions while Variation 7 received 13 submissions.
The Summary of Submissions for both variations was publicly notified on 9 August 2024 and the period to make a further submission closed on 22 August 2024. No Further Submissions were received for Variation 6 while Variation 7 received 2.
