Working for Nature/Mahi mō te Taiao (the Community Environment Grant) is an integrated and strategic approach to protecting and restoring nature. It aims to empower communities, incorporate current Council funding for restoration projects, and extend these to include environmental projects such as weed and pest management.

The fund is split into two categories:

Habitat Marlborough:
Projects that restore native habitat and improve biodiversity and fresh water quality. The focus is plantings where there is little native vegetation left, as well as waterway and wetland margins. It incorporates the current Tui to Town and Greening Marlborough programme.

Grants up to $5,000 can be awarded per applicant in any one year.

Protecting Marlborough:
Projects that work to control animal and plant pests that are threatening native wildlife and habitats.

Grants up to $15,000 can be awarded per applicant in any one year.
Late applications will not be considered
